Understanding conditional activities in Moodle

Activities and resources in Moodle can be restricted according to conditions set by your trainer. This means that you might only be able to access a particular activity on a certain date, or if you belong to a specific group or if you have received a passing grade in a Quiz or completed a Forum activity.

This feature enables lecturers to personalise content to students.

Conditional activities/resources can only be accessed when a set of conditions is met. For instance, to access the Assessment Quizzes, you may need to complete your Weekly Learning activities or post the activities in a Forum.

Conditional activities are grayed out when the conditions haven’t been met. Underneath the activity you will find what you need to do in order to access it. The following examples show how conditional activities look and how to interpret the restrictions.

Example 1:

Meaning

The activity “Assessment Task 1 – Knowledge Questions” is only accessible if you are part of a group and after you have completed and passed the activity “Student Declaration”.

Example 2:

Meaning

Here, to access the Knowledge questions instructions, you will need to complete the Weekly Learning activity “Case study (3)”.

And todo the next activity, you will need to do the one before that.
